About this Site
This site was originally created in 1997 when I was living in New York and underemployed. The web was young, development was done in Notepad, and no one closed out paragraph tags.
It was originally hosted in a student account at Columbia University, then moved to a student account at Grand Valley State University (back in the days when there was a 2 megabyte, 100 file limit on student accounts). It was eventually moved to members.aol.com (now defunct) and mirrored on www.geocities.com (also gone the way of the dodo).
Despite the hosting services, it became rather popular, rising to the number one Google result for the phrase "Japanese Writing" and staying there for nearly 10 years. Even now, Google still points to the Geocities mirror.
